Sony Virtuoso is a multi media language learning software programme that allows students to work with audio and video material, use interactive exercises and websites and link together themed resources into text, audio, video and gap-fill exercises.

Sony Virtuoso helps students to practise both their listening and their speaking in contexts that reproduce as closely as possible the situation of being in the country where the target language is spoken. Sony Virtuoso programme is already used effectively in public examination conditions.

There are three versions of this software: Sony Virtuoso (teacher version), Sony Soloist (student version) and Sony Vocalist (student version) and they are easily installed on an existing PC network, without the need to buy any extra proprietary hardware.

Access to the software is on a concurrent basis and can be done in a dedicated PC suite, across a LAN and from home.

Browser based distance learning versions allowing both greater home access and remote access back into a designated teacher's classroom are already being piloted for launch during the spring of 2009.
